I'm Ruut van Rossen. My
fascination for the web dates back to the early 90s of last century.
The web has been around since 1991 thanks to the efforts of Tim
Berners-Lee. My first browser, NCSA Mosaic, was brought to
my attention by a former colleague from
the university's computer centre. Somewhat later, armed with
Netscape 0.90, like Mosaic built by Marc
Andreessen, I could travel the world. My first website
- ZBS by
Bob Bradley - ran as a 16-bits server under Windows 3.1!
I was trained as a theoretical linguist at Utrecht University which
is my present employer. I work in the University Administration
in the area of campus planning and real estate. At present I am
the head of a group which can best be referred to as 'campusmanagement'.
For a brief description of the present organizational structure of the
administration of Utrecht University, see this
drawing. I can be contacted professionally
through the university's 'solis'guide.
My personal public PGP key can be found here.
In my spare time I play fieldhockey in
Houten at a modest level with a bunch of middle aged goons who
like to spend part of their Sundays on synthetic turf and have
a beer afterwards.
