SK 415 tower crane had been installed on the site. On Jan. 18th
2007 there were strong winds of up to 130 km/h. The crane could
rotate freely in the wind but at 11.10 a.m. it was reported
to be in the wrong position and it collapsed on the neighbouring
'Ruppertbuilding' causing immense damage and a number of injured,

Casa Confetti consists of 257
units of 30 m2 to be used individually and 120 student rooms with
shared facilties of 17,5 m2 each. Three or four rooms are grouped together.
In addition, there are a number of commercial spaces for entrepreneurial
starters. The latter are situated at the front of the building
near the Heidelberglaan. These spaces are are rented out to: a health centre, a hairdresser and to UtrechtInc.

Although Casa Confetti was commisioned by SSH, its funding
is based on a cooperation of 17 housing corporations.

| General information |
The building has
15 floors and rises to 48 meters. On the top floor, a roof
terrace of 610 m2 is created. The entrance of the building
is painted in a striking green color and it protrudes approximately
8 meters above the ground level. To enable the building of
Casa Confetti part of the 'Bestuursgebouw'
of the university had to be demolished during the first months
of 2006.

| The name of the building |
| The residence takes its name from the
multi-coloured aluminum skin. At earlier stages the project
was also called 'smarties' for the same reason and 'the beast'
because of its multi-legged structure. |
